Perth Harp Centre is a harp showroom and workshop in Osborne Park, Western Australia. This page says what information we collect when you use this website or deal with us, what we do with it, and how to ask us about it.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry. Your name, your email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, and whatever you write in the message. Nothing else is collected by the form.

When you buy something online. Orders are taken by Shopify, which runs the checkout for this store. Shopify collects the details needed to complete your purchase: your name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number and payment details. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments, Afterpay or PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.

When you visit the site. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include the IP address of the device you used, the pages requested and the browser type. We use these only to keep the site running and secure.

We also use Google Analytics to understand visits to our website, including the pages viewed, how visitors found us, approximate location, and browser and device information. We do not send the contents of enquiry forms to Google Analytics.

What we use it for

• To answer your enquiry and, if you ask us to, to keep you informed about a particular instrument.
• To fulfil and deliver an order, and to keep the records the tax law requires us to keep.
• To arrange a showroom visit, a repair or a regulation.
• To understand how the website is used and improve it.

We do not run a mailing list and we do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it. We do not sell, rent or trade your information.

Who else handles it

• Shopify stores our product catalogue and runs the checkout, and holds order and customer records on our behalf.
• Vercel hosts this website and keeps its server logs.
• Google Analytics processes website usage information on our behalf. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Resend delivers enquiry-form messages to our mailbox, which is hosted by Google.
• Google supplies the map on our contact and about pages, and hosts the YouTube films on our about and Salvi pages. The map loads when you scroll to it; a film only loads, and YouTube only sets its cookies, when you press play on it. Both are covered by Google's own privacy policy.
• If the site uses an error-reporting service, it receives technical details of the fault (the page, the browser and an IP address) and not the contents of any form.

Some of these companies store data outside Australia.

Cookies and browser storage

Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, including cookies whose names begin with _ga, to distinguish visits and measure website use. Advertising personalisation and Google signals are disabled in our website's Analytics configuration. You can block these cookies in your browser or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

The website also stores one small flag in your browser's session storage so the opening animation on the home page plays once per visit rather than every time you return to it; that is cleared when you close the tab.

The Shopify checkout sets the cookies it needs to hold your cart and complete a purchase. The embedded Google map may set Google cookies when it loads, and a YouTube film sets YouTube's cookies once you play it. Videos of our own harps play from Shopify's servers and set nothing.

Keeping it safe, and for how long

Enquiries stay in our mailbox for as long as they are useful to answer you and then are deleted. Order records are kept for the period the Australian Taxation Office requires, which is currently five years. Access to our Shopify admin and our mailbox is password-protected and limited to the people who work here.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email perthharpcentre@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally a few days. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
