Second-hand

Used harps

Used pedal and lever harps sourced from Europe, alongside local trade-ins and consignments. Each instrument has its own history, and we take care to understand its condition before offering it to a new player.

Before purchasing a European harp, Perth Harp Centre pays a harpist/technician to inspect it in person. The strings are checked for condition and wear, the soundboard and structure are examined, and the pedals or levers and their mechanism are carefully checked. This assessment helps us decide whether to buy the harp and understand any attention it may need before it comes to Perth.

We pay the market value for all harps purchased in the UK and Europe. For good quality harps in excellent condition, the UK price is essentially set by the market.

As you will quickly see when you compare UK prices online, when you add shipping, import charges, and GST at point of entry, our imported harps are very good value. We are much more driven by having the harps here in stock, than any profit motivation.

Once purchased, we arrange freight to our shippers in the UK, followed by storage and careful packing before the harp is loaded into a container for Western Australia.

Because of climate considerations, we are restricted to one container per year of imported pedal harps, as we need to transport the harps when the temperatures in the UK and Perth are roughly the same. This means that they are shipped in the UK summer to arrive here in the Perth winter. They are then housed in our Perth showroom where air conditioning can be switched on at any time if required.

The inspection before purchase and the preparation before sale are separate stages. Harps going out through our showroom are checked on our own bench, including string condition and regulation.

All prices are ex–Western Australia. Ask us for the price of a particular harp and a separate delivery quote if you need it sent beyond Perth.

Ask us about the condition of a particular instrument, or arrange a showroom visit to hear and play the harp before purchase.

Selling a harp?

We take instruments on consignment and sell them for you, or buy them outright if that suits better. Send a few photos and let us know roughly how old the harp is and we will give you an honest idea of what it is worth.
